I have two wonderful kids in Vista, CA; both go to Vista High School. I do miss them both a lot but their mother thinks it is cool to ensure no matter when I call, they never answer there phone. I can't wait until Mathew D. Helms is 18 (Oct, 2010) so I can tell them that I have always wanted to be part of their lifes including his sister (Mellissa J. Helms, looks like she wants to be a model, I found a few web sites with her pictures and bio, talking about wanting to go to Japan and model there) ; wish she would talk to her aunt, she did the model thing in the 1980's and found out how many individual want to do it. You should always have a backup plan, just like I did. I wanted to be a police officer since I was 5 but wasn't able to due to all the medical issues I recieved from being in the USMC for over 8 years.

Anyway enough of that person issue. I have been with a wonderful women named Victoria since I got out of the USMC in 1998. We moved from Joplin, MO to Ft Worth, TX and now we live in Seattle, WA area (Kirkland, WA). We still have one kid at home which is Cameron. He of course is a normal teen; a pain when he wants to be and an angle when he wants to be. Of course, this is what most teens are at this age, thinking they know everything and the parents don't know anything. I remember those days but when you figure it out, it is to late and your having to pay for everything. To bad you can't go back in time and tell yourself that you must do as good as you can in school and enjoy being a kid because once you graduate high school, life is a lot different. Seattle, WA isn't want we thought it would be; this state has really changed in the last few years.

I started working on hardware in 1990 as an Network Administrator and have moved all the way up into management. I have certifications and courses in CCNA, MCP+I, MCSE NT. 4.0 and 2000 to name a few; I do have others but I will not bore you with all the abbreviations. I did loose CCNA in 2003 but I have been working with Cisco routers and switches plus many other companies products as well for many years. If I did work for an organization that required the certifications, I guess I wouldn't have a choice and get them just like when I was working for Pitney Bowes, I had to get APP and APC certifications so that the company could get the discounts.

I spent over 8 years in the Marine Corps, 0331/4025/4066 MOS. I was part of Desert Storm, Fire Vigil, drug raids in Northern California, and the evacuation of the UN troops in Somalia, 1995 and some other small operations you probably have never heard of.

I was in the following units:

1/9 Blt Alpha Company, Weapons Plt 0331
15th MEU 1991
3/1 Blt Kilo Company, Weapons Plt 0331, and H&S Company in 3/1 as a Network Administrator 4066.
H&S Blt Camp Pendelton Administrator Assistant.
H&S Blt 1st Marine Division G-6 Network Specialist 4025.
3/1 H&S Network Specialist 4025
13th MEU 1994/1995
SOI West 0331 Instructor
SOI West H&S Network Control Specialist 4025

My career ended in the Marine Corps because of a car accident that happen in 1997. I was in the USMC from 1990-1998. I enjoyed the USMC and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I enjoyed everywhere that I was stationed. I had the most fun in the USMC at my first duty station, which was 1/9 but turned into 2/1; it was the hardest duty station but also the most rewarding of all of them. I was also in BLT 3/1 from 1993 to 1995 but was station to 1st Marine Division the first year to work with 40xx MOS which is computer support (it would be like the HQ area is for most large companies for the whole Camp Pendleton base) and then was station at my last place which was SOI west. 1/9 was re-activated and now the Walking Dead, is on the east coast.

I met some really good people: Sean Blackburn, Jack Hanson, Tom Drake, Luking, Chris Lucero, John Pope, Johnny and Mike Martinez, and many others. We do send Christmas cards out every yearly but I do believe that we all should put a date on the calender and visit for a weekend or so. It would be nice to see everyone again; even though I would out rank each one because most of them got out of the USMC as a LCPL or CPL (4 years of service) and I got out as a SGT (over 8 years of service); I do know that Jonny Martinez was still in and I saw him in 1997 as an SSGT so he would be the only one that would out rank me. LOL

I graduated from DeVry University with a Bachelor of Science in Network and Communications Managment @ the Federal Way, WA campus; I completed my BS in June 2007 (I had all my credits completed in May 2007 which DeVry University signed a letter stating this but I couldn't graduate early because of their graduation system).Once I finished I thought that I should see about getting my masters degree. I found out that my company I was working for at the time would pay for my degree all the way up to the masters program, as long as it is within my position; I didn't think I would ever run across this again so I went for it. I recieved my degree in Master of Science Management in Information Systems Security degree in December 2008.

I have been working in the security field for some time now, which is why I got my masters degree in security. I really do like working in the IT field and because I work for an outstanding company, I also like going to work each day as well. There is a lot of individuals that can't say this so I feel so fortunate.

You can always email me at bryanthelms@vbkc.com.

Semper Fi!

Sincerely,

Bryant S. Helms
